Community Training on Gender-Based Violence Held in Benipur, Varanasi
On August 26, 2020, Asian Bridge India, through its Sadhika – Gender Justice project, organized an impactful community training session on domestic and gender-based violence in the villages of Benipur and Ganeshpur, located in the Rajatalab block of Varanasi. The session aimed to raise awareness among both women and men about the different forms of violence that occur within families and communities, often remaining hidden or unaddressed. Through interactive discussions and participatory methods, the training encouraged individuals to recognize signs of abuse, break the silence around violence, and actively support those affected. Special emphasis was placed on the role of men not only as allies but also as key participants in creating safer and more respectful environments. The initiative fostered a collective understanding of gender justice, challenged traditional norms that perpetuate inequality, and empowered community members to take action against violence in all its forms. This training reflects Asian Bridge India’s strong commitment to promoting gender equality and building inclusive, violence-free communities through grassroots education and sustained engagement.
