Breaking Barriers Through Sports: Girls’ Cricket Competition on Republic Day

On the occasion of Republic Day, 26th January 2025, Asian Bridge India organized a Cricket Competition for adolescent girls at Kanshiram Awas, Shivpur, Varanasi, under the theme of Gender Justice. For many participants, this was their first time ever holding a bat or ball, as they had never been introduced to the game before. The event highlighted a critical reality — even today, in the 21st century, deep-rooted inequalities persist in society not only in education, health, caste, religion, and language but also in access to sports.

The initiative aimed to challenge these inequalities by creating space for girls to explore their talents freely and confidently. It emphasized that equal opportunities in all areas, including sports, are essential to achieving true gender equality. With this belief, Asian Bridge India continues its mission: “We are committed to change — to building a society where girls have every opportunity to rise and thrive.”
