The Youth for Equality Initiative (YFEI)

The Youth for Equality Initiative (YFEI) has made strong progress in its first full year of implementation, directly engaging 285 active youth across three urban communities in Varanasi—Kashi Ram Awas, Usmanpura, and Pakki Bazaar. Through structured training modules, leadership workshops, community events, and youth-led social action projects, the program has nurtured awareness of constitutional values, gender equality, human rights, and communal harmony. These activities not only built knowledge but also encouraged young people to participate actively, take leadership roles, and mobilize their peers. Despite challenges such as staff turnover, parental restrictions, and initial community hesitancy, the initiative has successfully established 12 functional youth groups and created safe, inclusive platforms for dialogue and action. Large-scale events like the Fraternity Mela and campaigns such as Raksha Bandh Sahyog Shuru Abhiyan marked a turning point, generating unprecedented community participation and acceptance of youth-led change. By the end of the year, YFEI had laid a strong foundation of trust, ownership, and collective responsibility among the youth. With continued support from APPI and deeper engagement with communities, the project is well-positioned to expand its reach, strengthen youth leadership, and amplify its impact in the years ahead.
