Why Inclusion & Advocacy of LGBTQIA+
Despite legal progress in India, LGBTQIA+ individuals continue to face marginalization, discrimination, and violence in daily life. Many are denied access to education, employment, healthcare, housing, and legal identity. Social stigma, familial rejection, and lack of institutional support systems severely affect their mental health, personal safety, and ability to live with dignity. Public understanding of gender and sexual diversity remains limited, making it difficult for LGBTQIA+ individuals to claim their rights or find safe spaces.
There is an urgent need to build inclusive ecosystems that recognize LGBTQIA+ rights as human rights and promote equality through awareness, support services, and community participation.
Asian Bridge India (ABI) is committed to advancing LGBTQIA+ inclusion through:
- Formation of peer support groups and safe collectives
- Awareness sessions in schools, colleges, communities, and workplaces
- Counseling and psychosocial support for LGBTQIA+ individuals
- Facilitation of access to legal documents and basic housing
- Campaigns and events like pride walks, film screenings, and sensitization drives

- Community Group Formation: Creating safe, peer-led support circles for LGBTQIA+ youth and adults
- Awareness & Sensitization Programs: Organizing interactive workshops in institutions and public spaces to challenge stereotypes and build acceptance
- Access to Identity & Housing: Helping individuals obtain legal documents (e.g., Aadhaar, voter ID) and linking them with shelters or housing support
- Mental Health & Counseling: Providing trauma-informed care, crisis counseling, and long-term mental health referrals
- Pride Events & Campaigns: Celebrating diversity and visibility through public events and social media campaigns
