Spreading Warmth: Blanket Distribution Drive for the Needy
On 24th December 2024, Asian Bridge India, in collaboration with Learn for Life (LFL) and Brown Bread Bakery, successfully organized a large-scale blanket distribution program across two locations in Varanasi, bringing warmth and relief to those in need during the harsh winter.
The humanitarian initiative reached 500 individuals. In the afternoon, 180 underprivileged weaver women received blankets at ABI’s office in Usmanpura, Jaitpura, distributed by Mr. Mohammad Musa Azmi, President of Asian Bridge India. Later that night, 320 homeless individuals living near Gurudham Chauraha’s labor market and around Assi Ghat were provided blankets by social worker Mr. Kamlesh Kumar and Ms. Jessica, a Canadian citizen dedicated to supporting the poor in Varanasi for the past 18 years. Mr. Azmi shared that ABI has consistently distributed 3,000–4,000 blankets annually over the past four years to slum dwellers, street-based populations, and Dalit and marginalized rural communities. The event was made possible with the dedicated efforts of team members Pankaj, Chandan, Suraj, Sahil, and Shivam.
