Why Skilling & Economic Empowerment

Economic exclusion is one of the most pressing challenges facing LGBTQIA+ individuals, adolescent girls, and underprivileged youth in India. Deep-rooted gender biases, limited access to quality education, and stigma in workplaces often push these groups to the margins of the labor force. Many are either unemployed or dependent on informal and insecure livelihoods. Empowering marginalized communities through relevant skill-building and economic opportunity is key to breaking the cycle of poverty, improving self-worth, and promoting social inclusion. For this, interventions must go beyond training alone and include career guidance, placement support, and access to capital.

Asian Bridge India (ABI) fosters economic independence and livelihood development by:

  • Offering vocational and soft skills training across multiple trades
  • Providing tailored career guidance through the "My Quest My Career" program
  • Supporting entrepreneurship through micro-loans and mentoring
  • Collaborating with employers to improve placement opportunities for marginalized individuals
  • Creating inclusive learning spaces free from discrimination and bias
