Especially teachers in the rural areas of Uttar Pradesh struggle with access to child-centred teacher education. Rote learning, physical and psychological intimidation, and lack of interactive teaching methods are some of the core issues that result in children not reaching their full learning potential. Here, ABI steps in and provides in-house training for its educators, teachers and pedagogical staff. The trainings are hands-on: Whatever teachers learn, they learn by doing it themselves first. They sing, play learning games, create mind-maps, or do puzzles. Of course, teachers also engage in deep conversations about marginalisation, justice, and values in education. We strive to create holistic change that enables our teachers to provide quality education.
