Empowering Youth for Human Rights: 16-Day Campaign Culminates on International Human Rights Day

On 10th December 2024, marking International Human Rights Day, Asian Bridge India organized impactful awareness events at Kanshiram Awas and Pakki Bazar in Varanasi as part of its 16-Day Campaign for Gender Justice, supported by APF. The initiative aimed to empower youth and community members with awareness of equality, justice, and constitutional rights. At Kanshiram Awas, over 85 young people and 34 parents participated in interactive activities like Snakes and Ladders and Basket of Rights, creatively designed to help youth understand the values of the Indian Constitution and the importance of a violence-free society. Group discussions also focused on masculinity, gender-based violence, and youth responsibility in shaping a just and inclusive society.

At Pakki Bazar, the program featured community dialogues with prominent human rights defenders. Mr. Musa Azmi emphasized the urgency of protecting fundamental rights and fighting inequality. Prem Nat, a voice for Dalit and marginalized communities, stressed the need for minority youth to rise and defend their rights. Ms. Neeti, a women’s and LGBTQIA+ rights activist, highlighted the importance of ending gender-based violence within homes. Hafiz Altaf Sahib spoke about rising unemployment and systemic exclusion of minorities, urging a renewed focus on education and empowerment. The campaign reflected ABI’s ongoing mission to promote human dignity, constitutional values, and inclusive growth. The event was skillfully coordinated by Ram Prakash, with strong support from Diksha, Pankaj, Chandan, Afsana, and Vandana.
